Dover Castle is one of Englands oldest castles and most well-liked tourist venues. Tourists can get involved in a wide range of activities, some of which include tours of the old architecture, history tuition, and witnessing paranormal activity. Visitors can check out the gift shop, Princess of Wales’ Royal Regiment Museum, and castle eatery while visiting the facility.

Things to do at Dover Castle.

As one of the most well-liked tourist destinations in Kent, the Dover Castle greets thousands of visitors a day. Dover Castle is the oldest fort in England, and guests can find a variety of things to see and do while visiting. The attraction is family friendly, and adults and children can take part in all of the sights and activities that the Dover Castle has to provide.

Historical Significance.

Dover Castle was founded in the 12th century and overlooks the legendary white cliffs of Dover. It played a significant defensive role throughout history and has often been described as the Key to England. The castle was, originally, made of clay. The castle started to take on an identifiable shape, during the reign of Henry II. Wartime tunnels were also developed, and those were used as an underground hospital, air-raid shelter, and military command facility during World War II. The castle and surrounding land are now owned by English Heritage.

Architecture.

The Dover Castle has a number of unique architectural assets that served to fortify it and protect against harm. The Keep is the inner-most protective structure, and it is surrounded by the Inner Bailey walls and outer walls. Concrete, antitank obstacles are also there as a response to a 1940 threat of attack. Towers, like the Norfolk and St. Johns Tower are also found, as is the Constables Gate. Tourists are able to view all of these structures.

Paranormal Activity and Superstitions.

Over the years there have been a great number of reports of ghost sightings at Dover Castle, some of which contain the ghosts of Lady in Red, Anne Bolyn, Anne of Cleves, and soldiers in the World War II tunnels. One of the most well-liked tales is regarding a headless drummer boy who is thought to have haunted the castle for over 200 years. Countless visitors to the castle have documented viewing a range of different spirits and have expressed they heard strange sounds, which includes the creaking of a door that had long been taken away from that place.

Food.

Visitors can make an outing of going to the Dover Castle by eating at the castle restaurant, The Naafi. Tourists can grab lunch there or take a picnic to eat outside on the grounds, weather permitting. Addititionally there is the Tunnel Caf©, which is found near the Secret Wartime Tunnels gift shop. Tourists can have a sandwich, cup of tea, or pick up a souvenir, while waiting for their tour to begin.

Short distance jets:

A jet like the Citation Bravo from Cessna features sufficient space to seat 7 customers in comfort, is capable of flying across the majority of mainland Europe and still leaves room to hold all of the passengers’ bags and cases. The Cessna Citation Bravo’s capability to land or take off on small airstrips dramatically increases the multitude of runways it is able to land on, giving you and your passengers a superior array of cities to land in. The 400XP by Hawker also seats up to seven individuals and has abundant baggage space, but designed for rapid short journeys, its swept-back wing design and its formidable jet engines make it ideal for people that have to move rapidly over short distances.

Medium range planes:

Those who often want to take a trip over lengthy distances in comfort ought to take a look at the 750/800XP from Hawker. With room to seat up to eight customers and their luggage and baggage with ease, and with flying distance in excess of two thousand nautical miles, the Hawker 750/800XP is able to fly from London to Moscow. To prepare for the greater voyages, the Hawker 750/800XP has greater head-room for comfortable standing, and comes equipped with a drinks bar.

The slightly bigger is the Dassault Falcon 2000/EX. With the capability to sit 10 customers easily and with plenty of space, its extra open cabin has plenty of room to allow customers to sit back, sleep or handle business matters in comfort. Capable of flying non-stop between London and New York or the financial powerhouses of Paris and Dubai, the Falcon 2000/EX from Dassault is more than suitable for commuting from the business cities located across the world.

Long distance jets:

With the ability to fly greater distances and faster than any other Dassault jet, the Dassault Falcon easily seats fourteen people and its cabin designed by Lord Norman Foster is the quietest in its class, making certain of a refreshing flight. Capable of non stop trans-atlantic travel, the Dassault Falcon 7X was awarded the title of ‘Business Jet of The Year 2009′, and uses three great jet engines giving it the capacity to transport as many as fourteen travellers and cruises at speeds of nine hundred kilometres per hour, and comes with a range up to ten thousand km. Find more information on the best aircraft charter companies online.

Last and by no means least, we have chosen the G550 private jet – the globe’s greatest sold intercontinental business jet aircraft. With an interior that is always pressurised up to six thousand feet and gets the air supply recharged at intervals of 120 seconds, the Gulfstream jet is most definitely ultimate jet in private aviation. Moving towards speeds in excess of just over 900 kph and with a travel range of 11,911km, the aircraft is able to seat fourteen customers and their bags comfortably on flying routes such as London to New York.

Chamonix Haute Savoie is found at the base of the wonderful Mt Blanc in the European Alps and is widely regarded as the mixed climbing and skiing centre of the world. The town has long been known as a true domain for activities in summer and winter. Chamonix held the inaugural Winter games in the early 1920s – but it’s also a region of brilliant vistas providing a lot of different things to the adventurous climber and holiday maker.

Unlike a lot of up to date skiing resorts the resort of Chamonix isn’t a modern ski area and has been saved from the concrete monstrosities which litters so much of the French Alps. It is lucky to have not only an internationally famous ski mountain but a classic and thriving town centre.

It is large enough to insure that there’s enough for the non skier to see, from sports to culture, shopping and sightseeing. However you choose to enjoy your holiday theres an activity to suit the whole group. There’s an impressive sports area, ice rink, cinema and weekly market; and lots of designer shops, terraced caf©s and night clibs, Chamonix town offers a mix of mountaineering, atmosphere and going out, which not many mountain areas can match. Why not organise that ski holiday at once.

Have all of the tragic events of this year changed how you are approaching this Christmas season and the rest of your life?

Personally, I feel released from all of the trivial upsets in life. I’ve noticed that I am approaching each day with a renewed sense of gratitude. It’s almost as if my vision has become clearer and I am seeing things with a fresh perspective. I have a new attitude.

Joseph Campbell said, in the book, the Power of Myth, “People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think that what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive, so
that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonance within our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.”

I believe that as children we are all naturally in touch with the “rapture of being alive.” It’s when we grow up that many of us slowly begin to fall asleep. We make choices that aren’t our own, stay in relationships or jobs that don’t fit who we are and, we forget how to play. Many of us end up living a “full” but “unfulfilling” life. This continually dampens the rapture for life that we were all born with.

Many say that Christmas is for children. If you have children in your life try to spend some time and observe them this Christmas. Experience their excitement and enthusiasm for life. Let them reconnect you to the dreams and wishes you once had as a child. Perhaps that is where the gift of rapture lies… in the spirit of childhood.

Maybe it’s time to bring those childhood dreams out of the box you shelved away so many years ago. Breathe new life back into them. This could be the greatest gift you give to yourself, your family and the world this Christmas

Don’t you just hate that time of the year (e.g. Christmas, birthdays) when you have to start thinking about gifts? I know I do. I often wonder why it has to be so difficult in the first place and exactly what has made it so difficult.

I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s either one of three things – 1) people have everything they want; 2) you can’t afford what they want; 3) they want you to suffer trying to figure out what to give them.

So, what should you do? Think outside of the box, of course!
Unless you know exactly what the recipient wants, you should try to be creative. It’s not that hard, really.

Ask yourself these questions:

* how old is he/she;

* does he/she have a hobby or a favorite activity (going to see a play in a theatre, trip to the zoo for kids, more golf balls or a Pilates’ video);

* where he/she spends most of its time (people who spend most of their time at work appreciate quality staying home time and vice versa;

* is he/she is a crowd person (going out for a fancy dinner or a party);

* what he/she likes to talk about (possible hints);

* does he/she like gadgets (and most men do).

You will get lots of hints if you take the time and answer these simple questions. You must know something about the recipient why else would you bother yourself with a gift idea, right?

There are a few rules in gift giving, though.

If it’s an elderly person, don’t give them roller blades; but they do appreciate memories. A good idea would be a photo collage in a picture frame or a self-made book containing their most wonderful memories (grandchildren being born, birthdays, pictures of family, funny happenings etc).

Wrapping paper only has a wrapping function. But make sure it’s pretty!

Pots and pans are a no-no. This is definitely a bad idea if it’s a woman. Believe me, you don’t want to go there!

The best gifts are personal and that’s what makes them memorable!

The Super Falcon chair lift in Breckenridge, CO opened in 1985, this made peak 10 the third mountain to be opened at Breckenridge Ski Resort. Peak 10’s double black terrain is plentiful. All the extreme double diamond terrain is on the south side of the mountain. With great runs like mustang which offers moguls, trees and more. The top part of Mustang is relatively flat, but don’t be fooled. This flat part suddenly drops into the steep part of the mountain

Towards the end of the run, there is huge natural hit and the landing is perfect but be careful not to go to big or else you will land of the flat. After the hit make sure you get enough speed for the cat walk. If you snowboard, beware, the traverse to the lift can be exhausting. There are five other double black runs on the southside all are pretty similar to Mustang with steeps and mogels. Quiver, Elan, Trinity, Black Hawk and Darkrider will challenge even the most experienced skier.

If you’re riding the Southside don’t forget about the brilliant Cimmaron ski run. If you like speed with a lot of rollers, You’ll love Cimmaron. This ski run has a giant slalom feel to it with good reason. They actually hold world cup races on this run. Once you pick up speed with this run, you’ll have a much easier traverse at the bottom. The southside is the absolute best on a powder day, but I recommend you avoid the double black runs on sunny days.

The north side of peak 10 has less vertical than the south side, but the north side has two of the greatest tree or mogel runs in Corsair and the Burn. Corsair is a little steeper than the burn, and it also has a tighter trees, but if you want to get the most bang for the buck, try starting at corsair and traverse skiers right and I promise you a long fresh run. When you pull up to the corsair mogul run, go left into the trees and I promise it all opens up into an amazing powder field.

The Burn is just below Corsair and offers wide open tree runs with absolultely perfect spacing of the trees. If you keep going to the right side when coming down the Burn, your run will be much longer.

One more run worth mentioning is the Crystal . This runs straight down the middle under the Falcon Chair. This run is a great run for an intermediate skiers looking to take that next step towards being a more aggressive skier. As a warning and tip, if you happen to be riding Breckenridge on a Saturday or Sunday, the lift lines can get extremely long. So my advice to you is to tryout peak10 early in the morning and by 10:30am, you can go to other lifts on Peak 9 or Peak 8 and there won’t be much of a line.

Traveling the world will take you to many places and in some of them you may even find treasures. But treasures are not always made of gold or diamonds. Treasures are also made of copper. And in Santa Clara del Cobre in the Mexican state of Michoacn you will understand why treasures are also made of this modest and noble metal.

Copper, the 29th element, is believed to have been mined for about 5000 years now accompanying humanity and civilization through most of his great technological accomplishments. In modern times copper is an ever present element in the electrical and electronic industry. But that’s not the only area of our modern lives where copper is present. Since ancient times Mexican artisans have used copper as a valuable material to fabricate beautiful and intrincate artisan works, among them there is one branch of artisans that combine practicality and art in their work. They are those dedicated to fabricate beautiful raw copper sinks in Santa Clara del Cobre.

These sinks are fabricated entirely by hand using the same ancient techniques of their indigenous ancestors. Even gas is forbidden to heat and soften the metal, they use only charcoal in small fires in the shops and helped by their inseparable hammer artisans give life and form to the copper plates placed into the fire. But this is not all, after getting the desired shape, the sinks surface has to be treated so that they will last and look like new for many years. For this they use a process called “patination” which is done under heat and that gives the surface of the copper sinks its characteristic color and durability.

Many people may think that copper sinks are soft or fragile but that’s not so. They are sturdy enough to substitute a regular, series made, stainless steel sink. It is sturdy enough that even bathtubs are fabricated entirely on copper. And due to the “patination” process they won’t acquire a greenish color or get rusty as those old pennies that didn’t have the luck of being “patinated”.

The charming town of Santa Clara is full of shops that work day after day to bring to life this wonderful pieces that are considered a national art. They are so proud of their skills that every corner is adorned with copper, even street lamps have their share of this noble metal. If you ever have the chance to visit Mexico, make plans and include Santa Clara del Cobre in your schedule. Who knows and you may even end cooking in a copper pan and relaxing in your own copper tub while your dinner is being cooked under a copper kitchen hood.

Peru is located on the upper west coast of South America. If you are considering Peru as a travel destination, following is an overview of the country.

Overview of Peru for Travelers

Historically, Peru was the location of the dominant early cultures in South America. The city of Caral has pyramid remains dated to between 2000 and 2600 BC, which may make it the oldest city in the world. Peru is also the home of the Nazca Lines, the football field size drawings in the ground that are only apparent from the air.

The Incas are a mysterious civilization, but one that was clearly dominant during its time. The Incas were based in modern day Peru. Although it was not a major city, Machu Picchu is the best known archeological remains of the Incas. It was discovered in 1911.

The Spanish defeated the Inca Empire in 1533, who remained in control for nearly 300 years. In 1821, Peru declared independence, but wasn’t able to defeat the Spanish until 1824. In fact, Peru was the last Spanish colony in South America.

Peru has seen periods of relative stability and near civil war since gaining its independence. In the late 20th century, conflicts with the Shining Path and Tupac Amaru rebel groups resulted in as many as 70,000 people being killed. Peru has moved beyond such conflicts and is experiencing a period of strong stability and economic growth. In a stunning development for patriarchal South America, Peru elected Beatriz Merino as the first female prime minister on the continent in 2003.

Peru is an interesting climatic country because it contains stunning mountains, flat plains and over 1,500 miles of beaches on the Pacific Ocean. Figuring out what to take is entirely dependent on the part of the country you will visit. Travel to Lake Titicaca, one of the highest lakes in the world, and you will need to dress for warmth. Visit the dry desert in the east of the country, and you will be dressing just the opposite.

Modern Peru has a total population of 28 million people. Roman Catholic is the dominant language. The literacy rate is roughly 88 percent. After years of conflict, the country has suffered economically to the point that over 50 percent of the population lives below the poverty line. With stability returning, this situation is expected to improve.

Peru is one of the hottest travel destinations in South America. With the end of armed conflict, the chance to see Inca ruins should not be missed.

With summer approaching, it may be a nice idea to take a break from one’s gruelling daily routine and splash around in the cool waters of the Atlantic. Talking about beach resorts, why look any further than Miami Beach?

Originally established in 1915, the city, located in the Miami-Dade County of Florida, changed its name to Miami Beach in 1917. It is a city known not only for the excitements that it offers as a seaside resort but also for its cultural and artistic heritage.
The city’s Art-Deco style architecture won recognition in 1979 when the city’s Art-Deco Historic District was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Hundreds of hotels, apartments and other structures built during the period 1923-43 provide the architectural basis for declaring the district a historic place of national importance. Besides Art-Deco, Mediterranean and Streamline Moderne are the other architectural styles that are well represented in the district.

The city’s South Beach is one of the most popular areas. Being a great draw to European tourists and largely influenced by their preferences, South Beach is one of the few public beaches in the country that tolerate topless sunbathing. Today, this part of the city is a major entertainment destination with hundreds of nightclubs, restaurants and oceanfront hotels.

The city is also very well known for its nightlife, fine dining culture, bike riding and shopping. While the once down-trodden Lincoln Road in the South Beach area is today acknowledged throughout the US as the destination for quality food, adventure thrills and great shopping experiences, its real claim to fame is the fact that Lincoln Road and the South Beach area has today replaced Los Angeles and New York City as the country’s top night life destination. Incidentally, the city happens to be among the top 30 destinations for gay tourism in the United States. The city is also the world’s fashion shoot hub with more than 1500 models living in the area and many more arriving during the October to March season.

Often called the Sun and Fun Capital of the world, Miami Beach offers tourists several points of interest. Take Collins Bridge for instance. Way back in 1913, John S. Collins and Carl G. Fisher built a 21/2 mile bridge to connect the City of Miami on the mainland and the City of Miami Beach on a barrier island in southern Florida. It was then the longest wooden bridge in the world. Although the Venetian Causeway has today replaced the original Collins Bridge, it was this link that ushered in rapid development for Miami Beach. Today the Venetian Causeway follows the original route taken by Collins Bridge.
Another must-see landmark is the Miami Beach Botanical Garden spread across 4.5 acres of land. The garden includes a conservatory and has several varieties of palms and orchids.

For fun, sun and so much more there is nothing to beat Miami Beach!
