Health and Safety Puts Cabbies Off the Road
Failure to participate in health and safety testing and qualification has resulted in over 100 cab drivers being taken off of the road in Bournemouth.
The refusal of qualification testing in dealing with passengers and proper lifting procedures caused the suspension of the cabbies. Two classes which last eight hours a piece and study of text books are included in the requirements.
Courses teach proper greetings like nice ways to say hello and how to ask the customer what kind of help they need, as well as how to plan the right route and what licenses are required. Other parts of the course went through material that detailed how to treat disabled customers as well. A few cabbies felt patronized by the content that the course covers.
Making sure the drivers are able to maintain the quality service standard required by Stephen Chappell, chair of the licensing board in Bournemouth, is why the course was first put into place for limo hire drivers and cab drivers.
Chappell was summarised as saying that those who have not succeeded in the training needed to be firmly dealt with, though he was proud of the close to 700 cabbies and drivers who did pass.
Whatever business you are involved in you can not avoid the legal requirements set out nationally and locally, accredited health and safety training such as the IOSH courses from Workplace Law Training can help.
